Lights, music, action! The slim line C902i Cyber-shot™ will have everyone wanting to have their picture taken. Sony Ericsson has added more bang to its Cyber-shot cameraphone range with a new sweet candybar model - the C702i, a 3.2-megapixel . Apart from the Walkman series, series C, the Cybershot phone is a real cash cow for Sony Ericsson. Incorporation of built in GPS and dust and splash-resistant casing shows that the focus seems to be on a robust and all terrain usage of the phone. Since more and more people are into into trekking and adventure tourism, C702i is designed to appeal to active outdoors types.
With a 109 x 48 x 15.5 mm dimension C702i is pretty slim and weighs about 105 g. It comes in two colours, Speed Black or Cyan Blue.The 3g phone is HSPDA 2100 capable and supports an amazing quadband GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 in 2G Networks. To top all that, the phone is also EDGE equipped. The display is a 2.2 inch TFT screen with a vivid 256K colors at 240 x 320 pixels.
The primary Cyber-Shot™ camera is 3.2 MP at 2048x1536 pixels with QVGA video recording at 30 fps. The camera is equipped with 2X digital zoom with auto focus and face detection which powers te user to take up close and intimate images even if the object is still or is in motion. Additionally there is a secondary QCIF camera for video calls and teleconferences , which are network dependent services. The Sony Ericsson C702i comes with a photo light option brighten up a dark environment. The user can adjust the contrast & brightness even after taking the photo using the photo fix feature. The C702i's integrated GPS receiver can be used for turn-by-turn navigation and location finding, using Google Maps for Mobile software, and can also add location-specific information to images as they're taken, which you can share with others. Users can upload images to blogs straight from the handset too.
The in built GPS navigation tool will ensure the user will never be stranded anywhere. The user can use Google Maps™ mobile to direct them to their desired location. Text messages support long messages without character restrictions.The standard MMS system or sending/receiving multimedia is also available and an MMS can be created directly from the phones camera options menu. A built in sound recorder feature allows the user to record short voice recordings. C702i supports Java™ games & applications.


Sony Ericsson C702i as 160MB of internal memory, plus M2 card expansion slot, which gives scalability for the users to take more and more photos. C702i features full 3G video download, streaming and video call options, and is equipped with music player and FM radio, plus Sony Ericsson's TrackID and PlayNow softwares. In addition there is an FM Radio with RDS with which one can listen songs and relevant info from your radio station on the screen as well. Access NetFront™ Internet browser with RSS feed support and regular features, such as email and stereo Bluetooth, are included too. Other networking features include Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and USB 2.0. Infra Red port is not available. The battery is a standard Li-Ion 950 mAh (BST-33) which when fully charged can provide up to 300 hours of battery standby time, up to 7 hours of GSM talk time or 5 hours of 3G talk time.
Though the phone is rock solid with a bunch of features, it has certain drawbacks as well. Lack of WiFi is bummer. The screen is a little small for a Cybershot phone (Could have used a 2.5 inch screen at the least). C702i is a value for money phone and is alright if you are on a strict budget. But if you are willing to spend more then you should look out for C902i, the big brother of C702i!
