Not only was the D600 a great looking phone with a cool sliding mechanism, but it is also the first Samsung phone with integrated Bluetooth – something that no one should be without. The phone is just great for someone who needs a phone to call & text. It is great at doing that & battery life is very good also. With an easy to use keyboard, nice slide, beautiful design, the Samsung D600 is a compact slider handset to cater to the communications needs of a normal person.
Weighing in at 103g is quite adequate for a slider phone measuring 96 x 46.5 x 21.5mm. D600 has a slide mechanism which is semi automatic and sheer pleasure to use. D600 comes with a large 1.77 Inch screen with a screen resolution of 240 x 320 pixels at sixty five thousand colours. Below the 5cm LCD, and accessible when the slider is closed, is a navigation pad, two shortcuts, call, end and cancel keys. On the left-hand side of the D600 is a volume rocker and TransFlash memory card slot, while down the right side is a camera shortcut beside a slide back cover for the TV out port. Irrespective of the state of the slide ( open or closed) the display shows up to seven lines of text. D600 is a Quad band mobile supporting GSM 850, 900, 1800 & 1900 frequencies in 2G networks.
The phone comes with an MP3 player, which now supports MP3, AAC and AAC+ formats. The MP3 player supports 3D sound technology from stereo loudspeakers. MP3 clips can also be used as ringtones as an alternative to the 64-voice polyphonic MIDI ringtones that come supplied. MP3 ringtones offer the highest quality audio possible.

Sporting a top-notch 2-megapixel digital camera, the D600 lets you take photos up to 1600 x 1200 pixels. There is a flash next to the camera, which is housed on the bottom half of the slider, so you can shoot with the phone closed. Single photo mode allows for automatic saving of photos; alternatively, you can opt to review your shots before taking more. Six, nine or fifteen images can be taken in multi-shot mode at a rate of about two photos per second, in either normal or high resolution. The mode we liked best is called Mosaic, where you can choose from fifteen templates that comprise several layers each, where a photo is taken and dropped onto each layers.
The D600 has a 81 Mbytes internal Memory Plus TransFlash™ support. The D600 can handle most kinds of messaging, including SMS, EMS, MMS and email. It incorporates a new PicselViewer which enables office documents to be viewed. The formats supported are Excel, Word, Powerpoint and HTML documents. The TV Out feature can be used to display documents on a TV screen if desired. The fitted battery provides up to 7.6 hours of talk time or up to 493 hours of standby battery time. The battery provides the user with a large amount of standby time which means the user will not have to recharge their handset too frequently.
The D600 could be mistaken as the D500's identical twin, but under the hood Samsung has bumped up the camera resolution, increased the quality of the screen, and tweaked the phone's array of features, making a great phone even better. Video output, although innovative, will leave some disappointed.
