  Motorola RAZR V3 Phone Review

Motorola RAZR V3 Phone Summary

The Good: Super slim size! Sexy and seriously waffer thin. The new Motorola RAZR V3 also has a camera and good feature set. Plus you'll never know it's there in your pocket.

The Bad: Feels a tad uncomfortable in the hand. Sharp edges make long conversations "scarring". Well OK, it's not really that bad but we definitely noticed the difference in testing.

Overall: Size VS Comfort. Really super thin but still wide (so not really small overall). Other than that it's a good a phone which has a good feature set. Nice colour screen on the outside but Cnet report its performance isn't always up to par.

Motorola RAZR V3 Phone Review

At just over a half-inch thick, the Motorola RAZR V3 is the perfect combination of sleek design and powerful features. RAZR V3 is an ultra-thin clamshell phone with cutting-edge technology and unstoppable functionality. The V3’s construction boasts a solid anodized aluminum case that looks great in any setting, business or personal.

It’s very thin and light, measuring just 3.86 x 2.08 x 0.54 inches and weighing just 3.35 ounces, easily disappearing in any pocket.  With the V3’s diminutive size, you’ll forget you’re carrying it until it rings.  Yet, it possesses a solid feel in your hand and the hinge is quite robust. Another distinctive feature of the RAZR appears in its keyboard.  The highly distinctive keypad is etched from thin metal with a blue backlight appearing through the letters and symbols.  This enhances durability and appearance, looking very futuristic and stays looking great. The keyboard revolves around a directional key pad with a center action button.  The function of all these may be programmed for use on the home screen.  The web access and messaging system buttons on either side of the keypad provide quick access to these functions, and below them are the green connect and red cancel buttons.  V3 has an internal TFT 260k Colour Screen (176 x 220 Pixels) With Graphic Accelerator and a external CSN 4k Colour Screen (96 x 80 Pixels). V3 is a  Quad Band Technology (GSM 850, 900, 1800 & 1900) mobile.

The RAZR V3's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that lets you mix your own ringtones.  A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names.

The integrated digital VGA camera has a 4x digital zoom, but it only offers 0.3 megapixels. The camera zoom may be selected between unzoomed, 2x, and 4x, with increasing zoom producing smaller pictures.  The photo resolution may be set to 160x120, 320x240, or 640x480.  The exposure setting may also be changed to make the CCD more light-sensitive in low-light situations. The camera can actually capture video in 3GP format. In high resolution (176x144), 16 seconds of video takes 286K.  The RAZR captures sound with the visual images.  The maximum per-video capture length runs about 286K.

RAZR V3 has an internal memory of 5MB. There is no support for memory cards (SD, MMC, etc.).The phone has Java MIDP 2.0 support for games and applications. The Razr comes with three games: Billiards, Golf and Skipping Stones.  The RAZR V3 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging is also supported via AOL Instant Messenger and the phone ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols. V3 has 7 Hours of Talk Time and 290 Hours of Standby time.

V3 has no video recording, no music player like MP3 playback support, and very little memory (5 MB) with no way to upgrade it. It has barely any applications besides a calendar app The phone doesn't charge when connected via USB to the PC. Does V3 give you your money's worth? Chances are, you're reading this because you like the way the phone looks and the attention it commands, and in that sense - the phone will give you all the clean-shaven attention you crave for.
